Trials and appeals

Our trial work ranges from winning damages for property loss, to recovering for personal injuries, to remedying broken contracts. We handle cases involving real-estate titles and tax matters, deals gone south and promises broken.

Real estate

Our real estate attorneys offer comprehensive, full-service representation for individual buyers and sellers, business entities, developers, lenders, and title companies, in the acquisition, financing, insurance, use, development and sale of residential and commercial real estate.

Employee rights in the workplace

We represent employees whose rights have been violated at work. This representation can and does include pre-litigation advice and negotiation of settlements. It also extends to the filing of lawsuits when called for, in both state and federal courts.

We also provide legal counsel to landowners, non-profit organizations and public bodies planning the conservation of natural resources…

Estate planning and administration

We have more than 37 years’ experience in the fields of estate planning and of trust and estate administration. We know or get to know our clients and their families, and in some cases have provided representation into the third generation.

Tax appeals

We represent property owners and municipalities in tax appeals and valuation disputes involving Vermont real property. On selected matters, we represent taxpayers in disputes with the Vermont Tax Department and/or the Internal Revenue Service. We provide advice about tax-exemption claims.

Liquor licensing

We advise companies in navigating and complying with Vermont’s liquor licensing laws and regulations, including general licensing questions and regulatory compliance for licensees, wholesale dealers, manufacturers, and other certificate of approval holders.

False Claims Act / Qui Tam

We represent whistleblowers in False Claims Act cases. The False Claims Act prohibits people and companies from defrauding the federal government by knowingly presenting, or causing to be presented, a false claim for payment or approval. The act is designed to prevent losses to the federal government.
